Southland businesses are renowned for their ingenuity and success at exporting. Tiwai Aluminium Smelter is Southland's largest exporter; export revenue for the year ending 2007 was in excess of NZ$1.1 billion. Southland business can continue to develop export markets and highlight the region's products on the world stage.

The collaborative approach demonstrated by several cluster groups has seen local businesses further expand into international markets.
