A survey of 373 Southland businesses was undertaken over the last two weeks and is currently being analysed.

Results show that Southland businesses generally have a high level of awareness of broad issues such as climate change (92%), impacts on water quality (90.2%) and greenhouse gas emissions (88%). There is a much lower level of awareness of Peak Oil (45.7%) and loss of biodiversity (50%).

However, only about half of Southland businesses are likely to have thought about how these broader issues might impact on the future of their business.
