For Southland Spirit of a Nation Brand Coordinator, Gerry Forde, a simple sticker speaks volumes.
“If you want to know that a business is proud of Southland, likes to give back to the community and aspires to outstanding Southland service, it’s all in the sticker on the front door – the Southland Spirit of a Nation logo,” Mr Forde said.
“As a customer it feels good to know that the business you are supporting gives back to the community and is proud of Southland. It’s a feel good factor that adds to purchasing pleasure,” Mr Forde said.
It is often difficult for businesses to express this factor to customers but businesses in Southland now have the opportunity to support the region by becoming a Southland Spirit of a Nation Brand Sponsor.
There are currently fifty businesses that directly support the brand programme.
Businesses are licensed to carry the Southland brand and pay an annual fee that contributes to the brand programme, including inspirational talks to community groups and schools, a primary school leadership programme, positive media campaign and brand merchandising through retail outlets Quantum Print and H&J Smith.
Business contribution ranged from a dollar a day to more expensive value-added packages for major sponsors, Mr Forde said.
In addition to the door sticker, businesses also carried the Southland logo on vehicles, letterhead, websites, signage and by flying flags.
