Good clean fun was had by all at a fundraising carwash held by two Southland students on Thursday, 17 June.
The students, Bradley Woolley and Alex van Eck, Southland Spirit of a Nation representatives from Southland Adventist School, organised the carwash in a bid to raise money for a Southland flag for the school.
The event was a huge success with the students raising over $300, which is enough to get them the Southland flag, a New Zealand flag and the flag pole! Anything left over will go towards a basketball hoop for the school.
The students ran the car wash from 9am until 3pm and charged $5 a car, which included a complimentary hot chocolate and muffin, provided by parents.
Southland Spirit of a Nation Brand Coordinator was on hand with the Southland flag, plenty of support and even his bike for the students to wash! The leadership skills, drive and passion of the boys was overwhelming.
“This simple carwash started with two Southland Spirit of a Nation reps wanting to raise money for a Southland flag and ended involving the whole school, parents, the local media and wider Southland – that’s the power of the Southland spirit to create community,” Mr Forde said.
