Attendance and feedback has been positive for this year’s Southland Festival of the Arts but there is less than a week to go. With plenty of events still on offer, Venture Southland is encouraging Southlanders to get amongst the action.
Venture Southland’s pick from the Dunedin Fringe Festival, Drowning in Veronica Lake, will be performed at 6:30pm on Thursday and Friday, 12-13 May, at Repertory House. This theatre production is a darkly comic tribute to the 1940’s Hollywood screen siren, Veronica Lake.
Following on from this at Repertory House on both Thursday and Friday at 8pm, is Scared Scriptless L.O.V.E. The Court Jesters from Christchurch perform improvised and comedic stories about lust, romance and love. Tickets for both shows will be available at the door one hour prior to the show, with a discounted rate if you attend both shows in the same night.
Other events include Naomi Ferguson: Songs My Mother Taught Me, 8pm Saturday, 14 May at Centrestage Theatre and Jazz Lovers’ lunch, 12pm Sunday, 15 May at the Paddington Arms.
The 2011 Southland Festival of the Arts concludes with a free concert by Wayne Perniskie on cello and Sandra Crawshaw on piano at 2pm Sunday, 15 May at Repertory House.
