The twelfth annual Shakespeare in the Park season kicked off on Wednesday, 15 February with sold out performances.

The weather proved perfect for the guided stroll through Queens Park, stopping to enjoy a variety of spectacular scenes from Shakespeare’s works. The hour-long production gives the audience a taste of humour, tragedy, magic and love with characters popping out of nowhere and delighting the unsuspecting audience.

The audience is taken on a journey through some of Shakespeare's greatest hits - Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, the Merchant of Venice, along with many other plays in "snapshot form". It is an entertaining and enchanting walk through times past and will have audiences wondering what is coming next.

Highlights include Southland celebrity sonnet readers, a dramatic fight scene and even a game show. Once again, Venture Southland’s Creative Project’s Manager, Angela Newell, her fellow directors and convincing cast have delivered a performance that highlights the difference between watching a show and experiencing it.

Will Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits runs from February 15-19 and 22-25. For tickets, performance times, and further information contact the Invercargill i-SITE.
