Western Southland and Fiordland Community Swimming Pool Audit

Venture Southland has been involved in several projects undertaken by community groups which manage community pools in Southland. It became obvious that some similarities exist between the challenges these groups face and that a comparative study could be beneficial. As a result Venture Southland commissioned an audit of community swimming pools in Western Southland Swimming Pool and Fiordland.

Below are executive summaries of the finished reports. If you wish to read any of the reports in full please contact us directly.

Te Anau-Manapouri Community Concept Plan

Residents of Te Anau and Manapouri have recently revisited their vision and ideas for community development in Fiordland communities. Concept plans are not statutory documents but are useful as an informal guidance for the wider community, the local community board and area subcommittees (CDA's) and other organisations. They are also a good document to show funders the community support behind your project - or how your project fits into the wider context of development in the area.

Key projects identified in the Te Anau Manapouri Community Concept Plan include: the development of town centres both in Te Anau and Manapouri, further development of walking and cycling opportunities in the area, promotion of conferences and events, and celebration of the local heritage and conservation achievements. Residents also thought that the existing community assets such as the airport and the RJ Fiordland Events Centre should be supported and utilised as much as possible. Please download the document below for a complete look at the residents' vision for their area.

Riverton Community Concept Plan

The Riverton Ward has recently completed the process of developing their Community Concept Plan.  Concept plans are useful as a guidance for the wider community, the local community board and area subcommittees (CDA's).  They are a good document to show funders the community supoprt behind your project - or how your project fits into the wider context of development in the area.

Key projects identified in the Riverton Community Concept Plan include: the development of walkways and cycleways, festivals and events, 'Gondwana' themed opertunites and celebration of the local environment and heritage.  Please download the document below for a complete look at the Riverton Ward's plan for their area.
