Gardens
Southland’s climate, soils and light combine to create a richness and brilliance in the colours of the many plants that thrive in these conditions. Plants such as paeony roses, dahlias, hydrangeas, rhododendrons, roses, magnolias and bulbs are just some of those that relish the Southland conditions ad produce top quality displays not found in other areas of New Zealand. The public and private gardens of this area are no exception and there are many outstanding examples of each.
Public gardens inthe region include Queens Park and botanical gardens, located in the heart of Invercargill and Anderson Park and Art Gallery.
Private gardens include Tudor Park Country Stay and Garden.
